This is a big step in the right direction and serves as a model corporate citizen to the telecom world what we can accomplish by working together to help those in a time of global crisis. Geonet is a complete Internet Service Provider, delivering high-quality, reliable and scalable Internet Services.
It was founded in Tbilisi in 1998 for the purpose of establishment and popularization of informational and communicational services in Georgia.
The United Nations has asked Voxbone to help get carriers around the world to implement their unique +888 country code. Eventually, all major PSTN and VoIP telecom carriers will add in their support for +888 for the common good of helping disaster relief efforts through the UN. The goal is to have the a global – ready communications infrastructure available to relief and emergency personal that is mobile, easy and fast to set up. Having emergency +888 global IP based numbers that don’t change regardless of where the next global disaster (such as an Earthquake, flood or Tsunami) will help save lives by getting help where and when needed.
